FIELD: railway transport; control of car speed on marshalling yards. SUBSTANCE: car electromagnetic retarder has two U-shaped magnetic circuits made of ferromagnetic material, each embracing running rails from lower side and sides, current carrying material coils fitted on legs of each magnetic circuit, movable beams arranged in upper portion of magnetic circuits with fitted on brake blocks, and brackets with shock absorbers. Each leg has three members arranged in parallel. Coils are fitted on middle members of legs. Brackets with fitted on shock absorbers are installed on extreme members of legs. Extreme members of legs with nonmagnetic insert fitted on and secured in their upper portion are equal in height to height of middle members of legs. EFFECT: improved reliability of operation. 4 dwg
