FIELD: transport engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to steering mechanism of road, air and water vehicles. Proposed steering mechanism contains at least two gear wheels secured on drive shaft, one of which is installed for interaction with driven gear rack mechanism. Said gear rack mechanism is made of at least two rack sector rigidly connected to each other and engaging with round driving gear wheels. Second gear wheel secured on drive shaft is non-round and is installed for engagement with driven non-round wheel secured on driven shaft coaxially with round driving wheel. Round driving gear wheels are installed for simultaneous engagement with corresponding rack sectors in ranges with equal gear ratios.
EFFECT: enlarged range of changing of gear ratio.
