FIELD: medicine, ophthalmology.
SUBSTANCE: before extrascleral filling one should detect the presence of thinned sclera. In this case one should put scleroplastic material under a certain extrascleral silicone filling along the whole surface of filling's location to be then fixed to sclera with interrupted sutures. The width of scleroplastic material corresponds to not less than 3 diameters of a certain silicone filling. The method enables to prevent the development of scleral sores after fulfilling extrascleral filling in case of retinal detachment.
EFFECT: higher efficiency of prophylaxis.
