FIELD: well drilling, particularly drilling bits having sealed oil-filled bearing assemblies.
SUBSTANCE: drilling bit comprises body with legs having axles. Roller cones having cutting members and bearing assemblies are movably secured to the axles. Groove for elastic sealing ring insertion in leg axle is created so that the groove is offset relative loaded axle side in opposite direction therefrom for ε value equal to ε=δ+(1/2)ρ. Here δ is maximal design clearance in bearing assembly bearings, mm, ρ is maximal possible roller cone skew towards roller cone sealing unit due to radial difference in bearing race dimensions with taking into consideration specified tolerances, mm.
EFFECT: increased uniformity of elastic ring loading, prevention of additional repeated compressive-relaxing stresses application to elastic ring, decreased sealing material fatigue and wear, increased service life of the sealing units and the drilling bit as a whole.
