FIELD: transport engineering; testing facilities.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to tests of vehicle and it can be used for determining mean heat transfer coefficient of vehicles. Proposed method comes to heating of air inside body by heat source. At moment of switching on of said source, measuring of air temperatures inside and outside body is started and, with heating continued, measurements of air temperatures inside and outside body are taken simultaneously within minimum time required for approximation with preset accuracy of changes of instantaneous values of temperature differentials. Measurements are stopped long before setting of stationary thermal conditions inside body, with two-time approximation of fuel and truncated sampling, using power functions where is time; is temperature differential; A, B, C are constants of approximating equations. Using constants of obtained equations, heat transfer coefficient is calculated by formula where H is mean geometric heat transfer surface; P is power of heat source; are constants of approximating equations; n, y are indices corresponding to full and truncated rows of approximated values of time and temperature differentials.
EFFECT: reduced duration and labor input of tests owing to elimination of process of air cooling in body.
