AIRCRAFT AIR-CONDITIONING SYSTEM Russian patent published in 2006 - IPC B64D13/08

Abstract RU 2271314 C9

FIELD: aircraft air-conditioning means.

SUBSTANCE: proposed method consists in simultaneous ventilation of pressurized crew cabin and thermostatting of heat-generating equipment in unpressurized compartment. Air is taken from atmosphere and its pressure in increased due to energy of gas-turbine engine at subsequent expansion. Part of air to be conditioned at increased pressure is cooled by outside air or by fuel of gas-turbine engine. Part of air being conditioned after final rise of pressure and cooling by outside air or by fuel of gas-turbine engine is cooled due to expansion close to adiabatic to pressure exceeding the air pressure in crew cabin. For maintenance of required temperature of cold (because of expansion) air, hot air is added to it which was not subjected to expansion. At increased moisture content of atmospheric air and during flight at low altitudes under hot conditions, cold (because of expansion) air is subjected to dehumidification maintaining its temperature adequate for separation of condensate before feeding it to unpressurized compartment and crew cabin. Air-conditioning system includes turbine for cooling the air heated because of expansion close to adiabatic; this turbine is part of turbo-compressor unit which includes centrifugal compressor for final rise of pressure of air being conditioned.

EFFECT: extended field of operating modes.
