FIELD: engineering of lighting devices with side illumination.
SUBSTANCE: lighting device with side illumination has at least one lighting source, element, letting light through, at least one light output surface and at least one light input edge, in fact being perpendicular to aforementioned surface. Lighting source is positioned adjacently to light input edge in such a manner, that light from light source gets into let-through element through aforementioned edge and expands across element, while aforementioned at least one light output surface has even roughness along output surface. Let-through element maintains, in fact, even thickness with increase of distance from light source. Roughness is light enough, providing average value Ra across surface not less than 1,0 mcm/mm of element thickness.
EFFECT: increased evenness of emission across output surface.
