FIELD: composite materials.
SUBSTANCE: invention aims at manufacturing novel composite materials and, in particular, provides a process for manufacture of composite material with silicon carbide matrix. Process contains formation of blank from hexagonal boron nitride and subsequent heat treatments thereof in hydrocarbon medium and in vacuum at 1400-1700°C followed by impregnation with liquid silicon at 1420-1700°C. Heat treatment is conveniently carried out in hydrocarbon media until weight of blank is increased by 3 to 60%. Implementation of the process is more advantageous when compared to known processes in that it provides novel composite materials wherein grains of hexagonal boron nitride are bound to each other with silicon carbide matrix.
EFFECT: simplified manufacture technology and increased controllability of the material properties.
