FIELD: preparation of high-melting composite products of desired shape which are substantially pore-free and have higher specific mechanical and wear resistance. SUBSTANCE: method comprises molding semiproduct from boron or silicon powder or mixtures thereof or mixtures thereof with silicon or boron carbides, heat treating said semiproduct in gaseous hydrocarbon or in mixture of hydrocarbons and heating it in inert medium at temperatures ranging from 1300 to 1800 C, and subsequently impregnating it with melt of metal from group consisting of Al, Mg, Cu or alloy based metal of said group. Invention is useful in treating constructional materials of higher rigidity, materials for wear-resistant inserts in components and materials of electrotechnical purposes. Method makes it possible to prepare substantially pore- free products with specific mechanical characteristics and wear resistance. EFFECT: more efficient preparation method. 13 cl, 2 ex
