FIELD: radio engineering; phased antenna arrays with ferrite phase shifters controlling polarization of emitted or detected microwaves.
SUBSTANCE: proposed polarization switch has metallized ferrite rod mounting two identical sections, each incorporating two ferrite magnetic circuits disposed on opposite surfaces of metallized ferrite rod and provided with shoes whose inner surface follows shape of metallized ferrite rod surface. Slot made on surface of each magnetic-circuit, along its longitudinal center line, accommodates double-coil control windings assembled of typing and reset coils. Coil leads are designed to afford controllable transition from one type of polarization to other. Total longitudinal size of polarization switch equals (0.8 - 1.2)λ and section-to-section distance is λ/10, where λ is radio-wave length in free space. Metallized ferrite rod is round in cross-sectional area and magnetic circuits are installed on its diametrically opposite surfaces, or it can be square in sectional area; in which case magnetic circuits are installed along its opposite edges. Typing and reset coil leads in both sections are loose and reset coil of first section is connected to that of second section in series or in parallel.
EFFECT: enhanced temperature stability.
