COWL TURNBUCKLE Russian patent published in 2006 - IPC B64D29/06 

FIELD: aeronautical engineering; fasteners for cowls, fairings, main-sails and panels of aircraft, seaplanes in particular.

SUBSTANCE: proposed cowl turnbuckle has body with stick articulated on it; stick is articulated with hook; cowl turnbuckle is also provided with mating part of lock secured on cowl door and hook engagement indicator. Cowl turnbuckle is additionally provided with hook closing visualization system which consists of slot in head part of hook extending beyond hook jaw by amount no less than radius of member of lock mating part where lug is articulated; this lug is connected by means of feedback with hook engagement indicator mounted in its rear part and connected with hook body by means of spring. Lock is also provided with guide-limiter and stop-roller secured on lock body, thus ensuring rectilinear motion of head part of hook at closing of lock and guaranteed gap at opening of lock between head part of hook and mating part of lock; hook body is spring-loaded relative to lock body. Hook engagement indicator is provided with signaling surface.

EFFECT: facilitated procedure; enhanced operational reliability of cowl turnbuckle.
