FIELD: agricultural engineering, in particular, equipment for silage ramming machines.

SUBSTANCE: ram has frame and cylindrical roller equipped with filling throat and mounted in bearings. Spherical protrusions are arranged in equally spaced relation on roller surface in multiple-thread helical lines, with protrusions of adjacent lines being out of alignment with one another in either of vertical and horizontal planes. Filling throat is made flush with roller surface, is equipped with thread on its internal surface and has screw-shaped cover with detachable projection, said cover closing filling thread flush with roller surface. Detachable projection is formed spherical, with cut sides which are positioned parallel to longitudinal axis of roller when said projection is set in place, and with two symmetrical apertures provided with head receiving portions for fastening members. Lower part of projection has two symmetrical trapezium-shaped extensions. Two symmetrical threaded openings are provided on roller surface adjoining throat for receiving fastening members. Cover is made in the form of cylinder with bottom and continuous diametrically oriented partition made flush with cover surface. Partition has thickness smaller than distance between trapezium-shaped extensions, with height of the latter being smaller than distance from cover bottom to upper edge. Upon insertion of spherical protrusion into cover, trapezium-shaped extensions are arranged in vertical plane parallel to roller longitudinal axis. Helical arrangement of spherical protrusions enables uniform compaction of silage mass. Arrangement of cover flush with roller surface provides for complete utilization of roller volume for compaction of silage mass.
