FIELD: fish industry, in particular, determination of trawl net catching capacity for further application in scientific investigations for calculating of fish stock, and in trawl catching methods.
SUBSTANCE: method involves finding partial of dividing the number of fishes caught by means of trawl net by the number of fishes downstream of trawl net, the latter number being defined by means of echo sounder, which is disposed above floating means moved synchronously above trawl net mouth space. During movement of echo sounder, cone of hydroacoustic beam overlaps space between otter trawl boards and trawl net wings.
EFFECT: increased efficiency and provision for obtaining of reliable data on the number of fishes in trawl net working zone.
