FIELD: rock production, particularly to separate cylindrical rock blocks from rock massif.

SUBSTANCE: method involves drilling annular cavity and separating block from rock massif by rotating cutting tool about block; separating the block from rock massif by rotating flexible cutting tool along outer blank surface in horizontal plane along with simultaneous tool tightening along vertical outer block wall. Device for method realization comprises rotatable drill pipe for cylindrical annular cavity drilling. The rotatable drill pipe is connected with rotary drive. Device also has tubular body, cutting tool formed as flexible cutting member arranged in horizontal annular groove and in vertical pipe of tubular body put on cylindrical block. The horizontal annular groove is made as dovetail in lover part of tubular body. Flexible cutting tool is secured in horizontal annular groove by one end thereof and is fastened to spring-loaded shell of tightening drum by another end thereof. The tightening drum is installed on tubular body lid fixedly secured to it.
