FIELD: engine engineering.
SUBSTANCE: method comprises filling the bath provided with a reference specimen of metal with the fluid to be tested and irradiating the specimen by ultrasound from the wave guide emitter of the generator with a frequency of 22 kHz. The specimen is positioned at the end of or below the wave-guide emitter. The duration of test should range from 1 to 4 hours depending on the output power of the ultrasonic generator to provide mass losses of the metal specimen equal at least 4 mg. The tests are carried out at two critical temperatures: near the starting temperature and close to the maximum operation temperature. The anti-cavitation capabilities of the fluid are judged by the ratio of the rate of the cavitation destruction of the reference specimen in the reference fluid to that in the fluid to be tested .
EFFECT: enhanced accuracy of the method.
