SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of research of metals for wear resulting from hydroerosion, namely, methods for determining the relative wear resistance of metals under cavitation and drip erosion. Essence: the values of the arithmetic mean deviation of the profile of the initial surface (Ra)0 of samples from the reference material and the test material are preliminarily determined. Samples of the reference material and the test material are tested under the same cavitation conditions during the time tk within the incubation period of each alloy, the values (Ra)k of the arithmetic mean deviation of the surface profile of the samples are measured after testing. The values of the rate of increase of the parameter Ra for the tested material and the value for the reference material are determined according to the expression and the relative wear resistance of the material under study is calculated according to the formula

EFFECT: ability to determine the relative cavitation wear resistance of materials faster and more accurately.
