FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy, namely to a method for manufacturing metal matrix composite material with improved mechanical properties and corrosion resistance. The method for manufacturing metal matrix composite material includes following stages: (a) melting of metal or a matrix metal alloy, (b) addition to the melt of metal or a matrix metal alloy from the stage (a) of basalt fibers in a proportion from 1 wt.% to 10 wt.%, (c) mixing of the melt of metal or a matrix metal alloy and basalt fibers from the stage (b) at a rate from 400 rpm to 1200 rpm during a period of time from 1 minute to 60 minutes, (d) processing of the melt of metal or a matrix metal alloy and basalt fibers from the stage (c) with an ultrasound for from 1 minute to 15 minutes at a frequency from 10 kHz to 30 kHz, power from 2 kW to 5 kW and amplitude from 20 mcm to 50 mcm, and (e) casting of the melt of metal or a matrix metal alloy and basalt fibers from the stage (d) at a temperature from 200°C to 780°C to a mold pre-heated at a temperature from 150°C to 500°C during a period of time from 1 hour to 2 hours.
EFFECT: obtained materials are characterized by high mechanical properties and high corrosion resistance.
