FIELD: petroleum chemistry, chemical technology.
SUBSTANCE: method involves the liquid-phase alkylation reaction of benzene with alkene in one or some sequential reaction zones in the presence of cationite catalyst(s) at increased temperature and the following separation of the reaction mixture by rectification method wherein benzene-containing flow and, possibly, alkene-containing low, or their mixture is fed to the reaction zone(s) with the water content equal or above of its equilibrium liquid-phase solubility in it (in them) at temperature from 1°C to 130°C. The water content in the porous sulfocationite catalyst is maintained from 0.5 to 10 wt.-% and temperature 145°C, not above, but preferable 124°C, not above. Invention provides enhancing the selectivity of the process.
EFFECT: improved processing method.
