FIELD: polymer materials and textile industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to fabrication of fibers and yarns possessing improved dyeability with reactive and disperse dyes, resistance to pollution, and improved mechanical characteristics. Method comprises blending polyolefin polymer and fibril-forming polymer to form blend of polyolefin polymer and fibril-forming polymer. Blend is fed into hot-melt extruder to produce essentially homogenous molten blend of the two polymers. Molten blend is forced through die having length-to-diameter ratio between about 3 to about 30 to produce fiber having polyolefin matrix and elongated essentially interrupted fibrils of fibril-forming polymer, which are dispersed in polyolefin matrix, and thereby outside surface of fibers is essentially fibril-free. Thus fabricated fibers are useful as yarn for face side of tappets, textiles, upholstery material, and other industrial applications such, for example, as chemical industry.
EFFECT: improved consumer's quality of fibers and yarn.
