FIELD: polymer materials.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to elevated-viscosity thermoplastic halogenated elastomer compositions and to a process for preparing the same. Composition according to invention contains thermoplastic polymer, at least one isoolefin copolymer comprising unit derived from halomethylstyrene, and at least one hindered amine or phosphine compound having the respective structure R₁R₂ R₃N or R₁R₂R₃P wherein R₁ is H or C-₁-C₆-alkyl, R₂ is C₁-C₃₀-alkyl and R₃ is C₄-C₃₀-alkyl and further wherein R₃ represents alkyl higher than R-₁. A process for preparing elevated-viscosity thermoplastic composition consists in mixing thermoplastic polymer, at least one isoolefin copolymer comprising unit derived from halomethylstyrene, and at least one hindered amine or phosphine compound to obtain thermoplastic elastomer compositions, including dynamically cured ones, containing more finely dispersed elastomer.
