FIELD: electric metallurgy processes, machine engineering, chemical industry branches, electrical and radio engineering.
SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of impregnating pressed electrode blank (after its primary firing) with cake impregnating agent and then firing blank in metallic container heated by means of gaseous heat transfer agent whose temperature is equal to 750°C; creating in container protective atmosphere with use of gaseous hydrocarbon products of heat decomposition of cake impregnating agent and keeping excess pressure of generated gas phase due to equipping container with sand gate and gas valves. Primary firing of electrode blank may be realized in steel container heated by means of gaseous heat transfer agent. Space between wall of container and body of blank is filled with carbonaceous filler preventing deformation of blank.
EFFECT: lowered consumption of energy and of heat transfer agent, shortened period of firing process, improved quality of electrode blanks due to enhanced uniformity of heating them.
