FIELD: inorganic compounds technologies.
SUBSTANCE: amorphous silicon dioxide is prepared by solid-phase reaction of ammonium hexafluorosilicate and silica-containing material at molar ratio (NH4)2SiF6 : SiO2 = (0.5-5):1 at 220-320°C followed by isolation of silicon dioxide from resulting sublimate. Any silica-containing materials are appropriate as starting material.
EFFECT: reduced energy intensity of process and increased purity of product.
