FIELD: particle separators, for instance, dust precipitators, using filters embodying folded material.

SUBSTANCE: filtering member comprises filtering structure having the first and the second opposite end sections and fluted substrate. Each flute of the substrate comprises the first end part arranged near the first end section and the second end part located near the second end section. Some flutes are opened in the first end part and closed in the second end part. Other flutes are closed in the first end part and opened in the second end part. The filtering efficiency of the substrate is measured in accordance to ASTM 1215-89 standard with the use of monodisperse spherical polystyrene particles with 0.78 μm dimensions at 6.1 m/min flow rate. The substrate has surface density of not more than about 200 g/m2. Substrate surface is at least partly covered with fine-fiber material including nylon, which differs from copolymer of cyclic lactam and C6-10 diamine monomer or C6-10 diacid monomer. The fiber has diameter of about 0.01-0.5 μm. After fiber material holding in air having 60°C temperature and 100% relative humidity for 16 hours more than 30% of fiber retains filtration capacity. Filtering method involves using above described filtering member.

EFFECT: increased filtering efficiency in environment characterized by high humidity and temperature.
