FIELD: production of aluminum oxide with new structure of pores.

SUBSTANCE: proposed catalyst carrier contains aluminum oxide extrudate characterized by the following parameters: no more than 5% of total amount of pores belong to pores having diameter more than 350Å; total volume of pores measured by mercury intrusion method is more than 0.8 cm3/g and presence of bimodal distribution of pore volumes having first and second modes; first mode is characterized by higher maximum as compared with second mode; magnitudes of first and second modes are separated from each other by about 10Å and by about 200Å as maximum; diameter of pores of first mode is more than median of pore diameter calculated by volume PDMvol. or by area of surface PDMsur.; magnitude PDMvol. exceeds magnitude PDMsur. Catalyst contains one or more catalytically active metals, oxides of metals, sulfides of metals and their mixtures and catalyst carrier containing aluminum oxide extrudate. Specification gives also description of production of catalyst.

EFFECT: enhanced efficiency due to minimum effect of diffusion limitations at retained large area of surface.
