FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to production of mixed strontium aluminate oxide for production of luminescent materials with long-lasting afterglow properties. Mixed strontium aluminate oxide has particles with a spongy or porous bone-like microstructure, which is characterized by that it is formed from a non-porous primary framework of particles which are connected to each other by thin and brittle sintered necks to form a three-dimensional secondary structure with a pronounced macroporous structure having at least the following properties: pore volume with radius of 15 to 500 Angstrom less than 0.05 ml/g and volume of pores with radius of 300–500 Angstrom from 0.7 to 1.5 ml/g as per results of measurement by Hg intrusion method. Method of producing mixed strontium aluminate oxide involves preparing an aqueous suspension of boehmite, adding a strontium salt thereto, hydrothermal treatment of the suspension, its drying and heat treatment at temperature of 900–1100°C. Obtained mixed strontium aluminate oxide can be doped with an activator, that is rare-earth metal oxide in amount of 0.5–5 wt.%.
EFFECT: obtaining mixed strontium aluminate oxide at relatively low temperature with a microstructure which would be easily destroyed during grinding.
