FIELD: structural members of single-rotor helicopters; devices for additional compensation of reactive torque of helicopter main rotor.
SUBSTANCE: proposed device is made in form of longitudinal fence mounted in lower quarter of tail boom cross section at angle of from 90° to 140° from upper point of tail boom cross section in side of retreating blade; height of fence is no less than 10% of maximum width of tail boom cross section. Change in configuration of tail boom due to availability of longitudinal fence gives rise to lateral force directed towards advancing blade for compensation of part of main rotor reactive torque in addition to force of steering rotor thrust. At proposed height and position of longitudinal aerodynamic fence lateral force on tail boom is created both due to difference in pressures on boom surfaces at the right and at the left in direction of flight due to separation of boundary layer off main rotor and due to forming of super-circulation flow around tail boom at change of direction of motion of inductive flow in area of tail boom.
EFFECT: enhanced efficiency of helicopter control in heading during hovering and at low speeds; improved flight characteristics of helicopter; reduced power transferred by transmission and consumed by steering rotor.
