FIELD: mechanical engineering; internal combustion engines.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to internal combustion engines without crankshaft. According to invention, proposed engine contains two opposed pistons arranged in cylinders and interconnected by rods, and cross installed for movement along closed sinusoidal groove with swing amplitude equal to piston travel from bottom dead center to top dead center. Timing mechanisms art installed in two working spaces of each cylinder. Cross is provided with movable pin passing through slot of fixed shaft rigidly secured in case. Movable pin of cross gets by edges into slot of movable hollow sinusoidal drum provided with sinusoidal groove.
EFFECT: improved reliability of engine, simplified design of engine.
