FIELD: measurement engineering.
SUBSTANCE: travel capacitive converter can be used for precision measurement of displacement and angular turns of units and parts of machines, mechanisms and measurement devices. Converter has set of isolated stator plates with their own outputs which plates are disposed at the same surface. Converter also has rotor plate mounted onto parallel surface with space; plate is tightly connected with moving object. Set of stator plates has plates disposed in two parallel rows to have relative shift for half size of plates, and two mesh-shaped stator plates. Any mesh-shaped stator plate is made in form of two rows electro-conducting straps having preset widths; rows of straps are disposed in parallel to direction of movement to be measured. Straps are divided by gaps being equal to width of any strap. Straps of two stator plates are shifted by half width of strap. Rotor plate has mesh-shaped part. Rough counting of movements to be measured is performed by using set of isolated stator plates. Precise measurement is performed by means of mesh-shaped stator plates and by means of mesh-shaped rotor plate being common for all stator plates.
