FIELD: production of light-weight wooden core parts for sliding articles such as skis, in particular, mountain skis.
SUBSTANCE: core member has grooves or channels arranged in longitudinal spaced apart rows and oriented lengthwise of ski. Grooves or channels are open only at the side adjoining sliding surface, preferably at part adjoining ski fastenings, and formed in longitudinal section as arcs of a circle or as elongated grooves with rounded angles. Grooves or channels of adjacent rows are offset with respect to one another by value equal to half the length of groove. Method involves employing wood as material for manufacture of core member; forming grooves or channels by means of disk saws, which are periodically positioned on core member material.
EFFECT: increased strength characteristics, reduced weight of core member and provision for fixing of ski fastenings on surface of core member.
