FIELD: methods of heat treatment of rails.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method includes immersion for 10-15 s of rail head from rolling heat into incombustible iron-containing solution of poly-acryl acid salt diluted with water at volume ratio of 1: (6-9) at temperature of 20-60°C after which the head is cooled down with water at temperature of 10-35°C for 80-100 s and then entire rail is cooled in water to temperature of 150-200°C.
EFFECT: enhanced hardness and mechanical properties of rails due to homogeneous structure of sorbite over entire section of rail; enhanced rectilinearity of rails.
