METHOD AND DEVICE FOR PRODUCTION OF COMMERCIAL GROUND SULFUR Russian patent published in 2006 - IPC C01B17/10

FIELD: production of commercial ground sulfur, finely-dispersed sulfur in particular for restoration of tires, mechanical rubber articles and other materials on base of vulcanizing rubber; chemical industry, metallurgy and other industries.

SUBSTANCE: proposed method includes grinding of sulfur in centrifugal rotary crusher including introduction of additives and subsequent separation of ground sulfur by fractions. Additives include equal parts of white hydrophobic carbon, for example Orisil-M or OKH-M and white carbon, for example BC-100 or BC-120, or orisil in the amount of (0.05-0.2)% of mass of starting sulfur; grinding is performed at rate equal to rate of coming of sulfur off accelerator which ranges from 68 to 70 m/s; separation of ground sulfur by fractions is carried out on sieve at impact of two screens. Device proposed for realization of this method includes loading unit with bin for starting sulfur, centrifugal rotary crusher with grinding chamber with accelerator mounted on electric motor shaft in its center, fan for delivery of air to gap between rotor and stator and device for separation of ground sulfur by fractions. Bin for starting sulfur is connected directly with accelerator inlet through screw feeder by means of flexible connector; device for separation of ground sulfur by fractions is made in form of vibrating sieve inclined to horizontal plane at angle of α=10=12°; its inlet is connected with grinding chamber outlet by means of flexible connector and is provided with two screens; first screen is made from capron or stainless steel at size of meshes of 0.140 mm; it is mounted for impact with second supporting screen secured on housing of vibrating sieve at adjustable tension; it is mounted under first thin screen and is made from stainless steel wire, 1 mm in diameter and size of mesh sides equal to 3 mm. Cover of vibrating sieve is provided with inspection ports closed with polymer shields.

EFFECT: improved characteristics of ground sulfur.
