FIELD: processing of materials.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to method of processing used automobile tyres and cord-reinforced service rubber wastes and may be used in production of superfine rubber powder, metal and textile products for them to be reused. The method of processing used automobile tyres and cord-reinforced service rubber wastes includes separating them into fragments not larger than 10-25 mm, a coarse crushing of fragments by applying shearing strain sufficient for formation of a coarse rubber crumb and separation of rubber from cord, primarily, without crushing the latter, and subsequent separation of cord from the formed mix of cord and coarse rubber crumb. The fragments are crushed at 70 to 220°C. The cord separated, the coarse rubber crumb is subjected to fine crushing at a temperature some 5-50°C higher than that of coarse crushing and application of shearing strain sufficient for formation of a coarse rubber crumb. The coarse and fine crushing is effected in a rotor-type unit intended for high-temperature shear-strain crushing wherein the crushing working member is arranged relative to the unit case inner surface with a circular gap of 0.3 to 6 mm.

EFFECT: allows producing a rubber powder with developed specific surface and decreasing power consumption.
