SUBSTANCE: the invention is pertaining to the field of gas-and-oil producing industry, in particular, to the methods of refining of petroleum gas, natural gases from sulfur-containing compounds like hydrogen sulfide or carbon disulfide by their decomposing with production of free sulfur, and also may be used at the enterprises of chemical, petrochemical, gas-processing and an iron and steel industry. The method provides for refining of the petroleum gas from the sulfur-containing compounds like hydrogen sulfide or carbon disulfide by their dissociation with the subsequent separation of sulfur, hydrogen and-or carbon. Dissociation of the sulfur-containing compound present in the petroleum gas conduct by its dilution in the distilled water let the gas transported from the gas-separators pass through the sealed container with the anticorrosion coating and the distilled water preliminary having adjusted its level in the container so that the water static counter-pressure does not exceed the pressure of the petroleum gas incoming into the container. The sulfur separation is exercised in the same container the same medium of the distilled water by electrolysis, settling it on the anode, and hydrogen in the form of the gas and-or carbon are settling on the cathode connected to the negative pole of the direct current source and the earthed wall of container. The refined gas is transported together with the cleared petroleum gas to the consumer. The invention allows to decrease the power inputs, to simplify the production process.

EFFECT: the invention ensures reduction of the power inputs and simplification of the production process.
