FIELD: electrical engineering.

SUBSTANCE: proposed device designed for starting heavy-power induction motors carrying windage load or started at no load incorporates provision for limiting starting current and correcting reactive power of induction motor in the course of its running; it has stator windings with series-connected capacitors which are automatically brought in parallel connection with stator windings in the course of starting at desired points in transients.

EFFECT: enhanced starting torque due to higher voltage supplied during starting moment; enhanced reliability of device due to eliminating motor self-excitation.
