SEAL FOR RECIPROCATING ROD Russian patent published in 2006 - IPC F16J15/32 

FIELD: mechanical engineering; forming tight joints between reciprocating cylindrical rods, such as valve gears of internal combustion engines.

SUBSTANCE: reciprocating rod is made in form of oil control cap. Proposed seal is provided with circular stepped reinforcing members and body. Inner surface of body has opposite engageable taper surfaces located unevenly; these surfaces change from upper end face to radius surface engageable with taper inner surface of working elastic zone connected with cylindrical riffled surface extending to taper contour of inner profile section. Taper contour of inner profile section changes to end face which is bounded by smooth engagement and cylindrical contour. Cylindrical contour has forming cone within dimensional fit of H6/R6 changing to fillet and reduced similar coaxial profile at ratio dimension chains of diametral surfaces which is proportionality of figures 1.3:14.3 and 6.2±HX in height taking into account fillet. Circular stepped reinforcing member is fixed at end by means of circular site changing to toroidal projection which changes in its turn into flat end face of reinforcing member having cylindrical inner surface. At normal (static) state of seal, cylindrical riffled surface is made in form of outer surface of axially alternating identical corrugations whose ends are coupled; corrugations have flat sides in form of edges of isosceles triangle in axial section at obtuse angle at vertex; magnitude of this angle depends on condition when all extreme points of corrugation tops and bottoms are located at similar distance from seal body axis in loaded (deformed) state.

EFFECT: improved quality of seal; enhanced durability; low cost.
