FIELD: thermoelectric instrumentation engineering; thermoelectric batteries.
SUBSTANCE: proposed thermoelectric battery has semiconductor thermal cells series-connected into electric circuit; each thermal cell is formed by two arms made of p and n semiconductors, respectively. Thermal cell arms are disposed along line. Switching components are made in the form of hollow outwardly insulated flexible tubes filled with coolant. Installed at tube ends through vacuum-tight joint are contact pads ribbed on ends disposed within tube. At one end of switching components these contact pads are connected on two sides with p and n semiconductor arms. On other end of switching components contact pads are connected to mutually insulated pads made in the form of metal or alloy films applied to ceramic heat-transfer strips or in the form of copper strips soldered on insulated film contacts of ceramic strips. All even-numbered switching components are connected to one thermal junction and all odd-numbered ones, to other thermal junction.
EFFECT: facilitated coupling with cooled (heated) object or heat supply and dump system; enhanced efficiency of heat transfer.
