FIELD: thermoelectric instrumentation engineering; cascaded thermoelectric batteries.
SUBSTANCE: proposed battery has N cascades, each incorporating alternating p and n semiconductor legs, respectively, series-connected into electric circuit by means of switching wafers. Legs are electrically connected into circuit set up of p leg, switching wafer, and n leg, where p leg contacts butt-end surface of one of switching wafer surfaces and n leg comes in contact with opposite one. Separate cascades are placed in thermal contact due to connection of switching wafers of next cascade to those of preceding cascade by means of hollow outwardly insulated coolant-carrying pipelines incorporating dielectric inserts, except for extreme ones, at all thermal joints of cascades. Pipelines are ribbed on top and bottom inner butt-end surfaces.
EFFECT: enhanced efficiency and reliability, facilitated manufacture.
