FIELD: electrical and heavy electromechanical engineering; air-cooled synchronous traction machines.
SUBSTANCE: proposed salient-pole rotor of synchronous traction machine has coils and removable pole shoes with coil-to-pole gaps, as well as slots in insulating frames under pole shoes forming single air duct for direct cooling of field coil inner surfaces. Novelty is that cooling air supply ducts are made in rotor poles. Mentioned coil-to-pole gaps, slots in insulating frame, and cooling air supply ducts form single cooling duct for direct cooling of coil inner surface.
EFFECT: improved heat transfer of field coils due to intensified heat transfer from coil inner surface; enhanced specific power output.
