FIELD: chemistry of polymers, chemical technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a granulated olefin polymer able for expanding and comprising a halogen-free organic frothing agent, and to a method for its synthesis. Granulated olefin polymer is synthesized by its impregnation with an organic frothing agent in the presence of a surface-active substance in suspension in autoclave at temperature at least 120°C, cooling to temperature lower 100°C, pressure fall, separation and washing out the prepared impregnated granulate. Olefin polymer represents a homopolymer of propylene or a propylene copolymer comprising up to 15 wt.-% of co-monomer chosen from the group comprising ethylene, butene-1 or their mixtures and if necessary as a mixture of thermoplastic with a vitrification point lower 180°C taken in the amount below 50 wt.-%. As an organic frothing agent method involves using a halogen-free organic frothing agent with a boiling point from -5°C to +150°C in the amount from 2 to 50 wt.-%. Prepared nonfrothed granules able for expanding have a value of a filled density above 400 g/l, and after storing at room temperature in air atmosphere for 1 h granules are able for frothing up to a value of filled density less 200 g/l.
