FIELD: electrical engineering; slightly magnetized electrical machines on board nonmagnetic-hull ships.
SUBSTANCE: electrical machine is degaussed upon disconnecting it from supply mains and applying AC supply voltage across degaussing unit input; this voltage is then converted into additional AC voltage and sequence of two rectangular pulses of definite magnitude and reverse polarity by means of three-phase converter incorporating power transistor module and microprocessor. Mentioned pulses are supplied to electrical machine stator winding and first pulse brings pre-gaussed magnetic field to maximal residual-magnetization value. Second pulse functions to set up reverse degaussing magnetic field approaching zero value of electrical machine residual magnetization which corresponds to its degaussed state.
EFFECT: enhanced degree of machine degaussing due to superposing additional AC magnetic field onto DC one.
