FIELD: analytical instrument engineering.
SUBSTANCE: ion mobility spectrometer can be used for detection of vapors in air composition. Ion mobility spectrometer has device for separating ions made in form of electrically insulated electrodes, external and internal ones; electrodes have cylindrical surfaces. Ion lens has at least two electrodes. One electrode is tuned to thermal emitter of ions, and the other one is turned with its widening channel to ion separation device. Cross-section area of gap between second electrode and cone-shaped surface of input part of internal electrode of ion separation device, turned to ion lens, has at least one local maximum within distance range along axis of spectrometer from plane of coincidence of central and widening channels of ion lens to and electric insulator between ion lens and external electrode of ion separation device. High resolution of ion mobility spectrometer with radio isotopic, laser or surface-ionization ion sources of organic compositions is provided.
EFFECT: higher dynamic range; higher resolution.
