FIELD: sugar industry.

SUBSTANCE: sulfiter has cyclone-shaped reservoir equipped at its upper part with means for separation of used sulfur dioxide from sulfitized liquid, and apparatus for mixing of sulfur dioxide with liquid. Said apparatus has tube with branch pipe for feeding sulfur dioxide and disk with apertures, fixed perpendicular to tube axis within mixing chamber. Heads with nozzles are set parallel to one another within disk apertures. Grid is additionally established within mixing chamber in spaced apart relation with respect to nozzle ends and equipped with cone-shaped openings axially aligned with nozzles. Cylindrical heads are located within cone-shaped openings, with exit part of cylindrical heads being made as diffusers with cone angle ranging between 6 deg and 14 deg. Means for separation of used sulfur dioxide from sulfitized liquid has cylinder with disk-shaped plates fixed therein and equipped with upward oriented flange. Disk-shaped plates define through-flow gas orifices formed through cylinder wall and arranged at opposite sides thereof. Disk with heads are to be positioned for reciprocation by means of eccentric.

EFFECT: increased efficiency due to increased gas ejection coefficient and intensified liquid and gas mass exchange process.
