APPARATUS FOR SULFITATION OF SUGAR HOUSE WASTE LIQUIDS Russian patent published in 2002 - IPC

FIELD: sugar industry. SUBSTANCE: apparatus has sulfur burning furnace connected through pipeline to device for removing dust from sulfur dioxide and for afterburning of sulfur, and jet-type sulfiter having casing equipped with ejector. Mixing chamber of ejector has sulfited liquid supplying device and sulfur dioxide supplying branch pipe. Sulfited liquid supplying device has centrifugal-jet sprinkler. Device for removing dust from sulfur dioxide and for sulfur afterburning is made in the form of cyclone covered with heat-insulation. Sprinkler has cylindrical vortex chamber equipped with nozzle for liquid to be sulfited and with supplying branch pipe, which is connected thereto so that its longitudinal axis is offset with respect to chamber transverse axis. One part of branch pipe internal surface is positioned tangentially to internal surface of chamber and other part - radially thereto. Such construction provides for reliable operation of apparatus within wide range of flow rates of liquid to be sulfited, i.e., 50-120% of nominal flow rate, reduced consumption of sulfur by 20-25%. Apparatus is used for sulfiting liquids, such as juices, syrups and process water.
