FIELD: non-ferrous metallurgy, namely production of aluminum by electrolysis, particularly methods for lining cathode devices of aluminum cells.
SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of laying upper rows of foundation of firebricks with use of masonry solution containing 70 -72% of silicon carbide, 23 - 27% of chamotte and 3 - 5% of coal pitch and 14 - 18% of water in addition to dry mass. At least 15% of silicon carbide is in the form of highly concentrated binder suspension prepared by wet grinding and the balance is in the form of poly-dispersed filler.
EFFECT: increased useful life period of aluminum cell due to slow rate of penetration of ingredients of cryolite-alumina melt to heat insulation part of foundation, stable thermal-physical properties of said part.
