FIELD: sterilization of package sheet material for manufacture of hermetically sealed packages for poured food products.
SUBSTANCE: method involves directing onto opposite surfaces of packaging material of respective low-energy electron beams, each of electron beams having energy value below 100 kilo-electron volts and said electron beams being simultaneously radiated by means of generating devices arranged level with one another onto opposite surfaces of packaging sheet material. Apparatus has radiation means for radiating packaging sheet material with electrons, said means consisting of two generating devices arranged near opposite sides of sheet material, level with one another in direction perpendicular to packaging sheet material for simultaneous sterilization of surfaces at its both sides.
EFFECT: increased efficiency by providing simultaneous sterilization of surfaces at both sides of packaging material without affecting its properties and without imparting unpleasant odor to food product.
