FIELD: tube production, namely HF-welding of elongated tubes of carbon steels.
SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of shaping tube blank from strip; heating welded edges at transporting blank through HF inductor with cylindrical ferromagnetic core mounted inside tube blank along its axis; mutually approaching tube blank edges and squeezing them by means of rolls of welding stand. According to invention ferromagnetic core is mounted in such a way that its end turned to welding stand is in zone where distance between approached edges consists of 1.0 - 5.2 of thickness of strip and where gap between edges and ferromagnetic core is no more than 4.1 of strip thickness. Invention provides increased intensity of electromagnetic field of HF-inductor just in zone of arranging tube blank edges that is why edges are heated till maximally possible degree.
EFFECT: enhanced efficiency of process at high quality of seam.
