FIELD: organic chemistry, steroid.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to synthesis of organic substances, in particular, synthesis of steroids used in chemical, microbiological and pharmaceuticals branches of industry. Invention relates to an improved method of synthesis of 6α=methylhydrocortisone from hydrocortisone or its 21-acyloxy-derivative. 6α-Methylhydrocortisone is synthesized by the method involving preliminary protection of 11β-, 17α- and 21-hydroxyl groups of hydrocortisone or its 21-acyloxy-derivative by the method of exhausting esterification to form 11β,17α,21-trialkanoyloxy-derivative, methylenation by C6-position, reduction of 6-methylene group to 6α-methyl group that is carried out before or after removing the protective groups.
EFFECT: improved method of synthesis.
