FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: method involves vacuum-plasma application of two-layered coating. As lower layer, there applied is composite titanium, zirconium and aluminium nitride, and as upper layer there applied is composite titanium, zirconium and molybdenum nitride. At that, the coating is applied by using three cathodes-evaporators located in horizontal plane, made from titanium with an insert. The first cathode is provided with an aluminium insert, the second one - with a molybdenum insert, and the third one located between them - with zirconium insert. When lower and upper layers are applied, there alternatively used are cathodes-evaporators with aluminium and molybdenum inserts together with the cathode containing zirconium insert.
EFFECT: increasing operability of cutting tool and treatment quality.
