SUBSTANCE: invention proposes using valsartan or its pharmaceutically acceptable salt as antagonist of angiotensin II receptors for preparing a medicinal agent designated for treatment of acute myocardial infarction and secondary prophylaxis of acute myocardial infarction. Invention provides the more selective pharmacological effect, decreases region of acute myocardial infarction based on the effect on function of aortic ventricle of heart, decreases mortality of patients and improved the short-time and permanent prognosis.
