FIELD: wireless communication systems.

SUBSTANCE: in accordance to method, traffic indication counter is incremented each time when a data packet is transferred from buffer. When number of transferred packets becomes equal to or exceeds threshold number, traffic indication message is generated, containing size of buffer window, which is transferred to base station controller. Traffic indication message may be generated and transferred at each threshold time interval independently from number of transferred data packets to guarantee the fact, that traffic indication messages are transferred at each predetermined time interval. Traffic control system may be created containing traffic generation counter module, adjusted for outputting renewed number of transferred data packets. System contains module for monitoring buffer window size, which determines buffer window size and message generation module, which generates traffic indication message, containing buffer window size.

EFFECT: improved control over data traffic.
